A major new research bulletin on estimating deer abundance in woodlands has just been published in partnership with the Forestry Commission (visit Research to find out more). The bulletin is the culmination of 10 years of contract work undertaken on behalf of FC. Further publications in the same subject area are planned for the future.

Extranet site wins award!
In 2007, Strath Caulaidh, in conjunction with Nothing Limited, developed a secure access ‘extranet’ site for ScottishPower Renewables Ltd.The site won a prize at the Green Energy Awards held in Edinburgh in December 2007.
The Black Law Extranet holds all the ecological information and reports relating to the Habitat Management Plan for Black Law windfarm near Forth in Lanarkshire.Black Law is one of the largest operational windfarms in Europe.

Key research paper published
Strath Caulaidh published its first key research paper in the prestigious Journal of Applied Ecology in 2004. The paper presents the initial findings of a long-term study aimed at improving the Forestry Commission's ability to estimate deer abundance in woodlands (visit Research to find out more).
