About Us

Our clients recognise the advantage of carrying out strategic research allied to operational monitoring as this can be critical for future decision-making or influencing policy level decisions.  For this reason many of the larger commercial projects we carry out have a considerable research component.

In many cases the data gathered and analyses carried out are suitable for inclusion in peer-reviewed journal papers. Staff at SCL are experienced in technical authoring to this level having contributed to several technical guidance documents and papers over the preceding years.  A few examples of our publications are given below:

HMSO Bulletin

A major research bulletin on estimating deer abundance in woodlands was published in partnership with the Forestry Commission.  The bulletin was produced after 10 years of technical assessment work undertaken on behalf of FC.

Journal of Applied Ecology

This paper, presented in the Journal of Applied Ecology presented the initial findings of a long-term study aimed at improving the Forestry Commission’s ability to estimate deer abundance in woodlands
