Conservation & Land Management

Our Work

History

SCL has been involved in conservation and land management since 1998. We have wide ranging experience of working with government conservation organisations, private estates and nature conservation charities.

Our largest client with interests solely in conservation is Scottish Natural Heritage, although much of the work we undertake for other clients on windfarms also has a strong underlying conservation theme – we have delivered various programs of work for SNH in recent years, including work on many key NNR’s and a range of designated sites on which Joint Working is being undertaken.

Our Services

Our Clients

SCL offers a wide range of services relating to conservation and land management. With SNH we often work on projects involving habitat assessment and botanical survey. With our other clients we have worked on projects as diverse as blanket bog restoration (drain damming, forest clearance), water vole surveys, Black grouse habitat assessment and raptor prey studies.

Environmental Planning

We also undertake a wide range of environmental planning work which covers local through to strategic scale assessment, mainly in the uplands but also in the lowlands. We are increasingly becoming involved in large-scale planning projects requiring a wide range of disciplines including natural sciences, consultation work and communities/tourism. We are working with new partners to deliver this work across Scotland.
