Landscape-scale management plan in Applecross

We have spent the last 5 months working up north with the Applecross Trust and community, helping to prepare the way for creation of a new estate management plan.  Many meetings have been held, and a sequence of fascinating discussions has taken place.  A very exciting and interesting project for us, which looks like it will produce some really positive outcomes.

The joys of spring – monitoring deer densities

We’ve been away this month re-locating some old transects on an estate up north.  We previously surveyed the site in 2013, and since then a very large number of deer have been culled from it (in fact, in the first year the cull added almost 1% onto the entire national woodland deer cull).  Great to see the site again, and immediately note some possible changes in deer distribution.  It will…
